An Introduction to Macro Social Work

Tomorrow marks the first day of a class I’m teaching on Macro Social Work this semester. I found this video while searching for resources in preparation for the course.

I like it because of the way it demonstrates the interconnectedness between micro, mezzo, and macro Social Work, and how necessary it is that practitioners be aware of the concerns and needs of the people they serve within those levels.

In Social Work, and in life, there’s room at the table for all of us.

Once we accept that, it then becomes about finding out what avenues are best for each of us to use to be of service.

If you have any resources related to Macro Social Work, please feel free to share them with me.

I'm a Social Justice Educator and Aspiring Humanitarian who is interested in conflict resolution, improving intergroup relations, and building more equitable and inclusive communities. "Notes from an Aspiring Humanitarian" is my blog, where I write about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. By exploring social identities through written word, film & video, and other forms of media, I hope to continue to expand and enrich conversations about social issues that face our society, and to find ways to take social action while encouraging others to do so as well in their own ways.
